Anne Barnard, 95, of Lexington, died Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Willows at Fritz Farm in Lexington.
Born Dec. 12, 1929, in Mt. Sterling, she was the daughter of the late Walter Ficklin and Nettie Logan. She was a teacher for the Montgomery County Board of Education and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was an excellent cook, avid bird watcher and loved her family.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Barnard Jr. of Harrisonburg, Va., Walter Lee Barnard (Claudia) of Micanopy, Fla., John Barnard (Beverly) of Mt. Sterling, Kevin Barnard (Pam) of Charlottesville, Va. and Mark Barnard of Lexington; daughters, Mary Barnard of Orlando, Fla., Ann Courtney (Paul) of Morehead, Kathleen Bank (Jay) of Lexington and Sally Barnard of Lexington; grandchildren, William Christopher Barnard (Robin) of Lexington, Amy Tarrence (Jacob) of Lexington, Chloe Lee (Corey) of Lexington, Caroline Richmond (Nathan), Elizabeth Conyers (Garrett) of Lexington, Sally Wren Lambert of Lexington, Rachel Barnard of Charlottesville, Va., Michael Barnard of Charlottesville, Va. and Molly Lambert of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Annlee Barnard, Christopher Kawyer Barnard, Kyslee Barnard, Gregory Adkyn Barnard, Hazel Tarrence, Hattie Tarrence, Oliver Lee, Anna Kate Lee, Tate Richmond and Collins Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Barnard; grandchild, Annie Burke Courtney; brother, John Cockerham; and sisters, Mary Congleton and Sally Hoskins.
Graveside service was conducted Wednesday, March 26, at St. Thomas Cemetery.
