Rosemary Hughes Lee, 79

October 27, 2024

Rosemary Hughes Lee, 79, died at her home surrounded by her family.
Born March 8, 1945, in Bowen, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Celia Martin Hughes.  Her father was in Germany serving our country during WWII and she was nine months old when he saw her for the first time.  She had a successful career at Square D. Electric, building many close relationships with her colleagues who became lifelong friends.  She retired after 42 years of service.  She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports and was an avid UK Wildcats basketball fan.  Anyone who may have been near her home during a Wildcat game may have heard her cheering.  Nothing brought her more joy than the opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren.  She loved cooking delicious meals that would feed a small army.  She celebrated her faith and was passionate about her church, Christian Assembly of God.  She considered Pastor Barnes a part of her family.
Survivors include her sons, Kevin “Bud” Lee and Ken Lee (Heather); grandchildren, Keith Lee, Kendra Lee, Ken Lee Jr., Kenzie Lee and Lexi Nickell; sister, Patty Wells (Phillip); brother, David Hughes (Kathy); sisters-in-law, Ailene Ginter (Tommy) and Nelda Lee; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. “Butch” Lee; brothers, Maynard Hughes, Larry Hughes, Keith Hughes and Harold “Pookie” Hughes; and a sister, Alberta Berry.
Service was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Christian Assembly of God with Pastor Scott Barnes officiating.  Burial was in Machpelah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Berry, Darren Berry, Scott Wells, Kyle Lee, David Lewis Lee Jr., Daymon Hughes, Darrell Hughes and Tony Polesgrove.
